Alumni Association Update

[Letters]
[Spacer]
On July 29, 1996, we received a letter from Sr. Margaret Christine. Here are some excerpts:

"One day last week I received your Alumni Newsletter.
I think it is a wonderful thing you are doing; and I am so pleased and happy that so many of you did not forget.
I am sure that from his place in heaven, Fr. Carr will be proud of all of you and ask the Lord to bless you.

Do remember me to all and keep up your good work."

For those who would like to write, Sister's address is:
Sr. Margaret Christine, O.S.F.
Assisi House, 600 Red Hill Road
Aston, PA 19014

[News]
Lenny "Blinky" Nelson was featured in the City Journal section of the August, 1996 issue of Boston Magazine. The three page article included a fantastic picture and highly complimentary biography. Way to go, Blinky!

We were sorry to hear about the recent death of George "Butch" Johnson's mother. Condolences can be sent to him at 89 North Ridge Road, Beverly, MA 01915

Since our last newsletter, we conducted two Association meetings on Thursday, 7/25/96 and 10/3/96. Here are the main topics from these meetings:

We have accomplished three of the goals in our charter: our first newsletter, our first annual social, and the foundation of an Alumni Corps (See Page 6).

My thanks to all who commented about the Newsletter. We mailed over 150 copies to alumni and friends. As you can see we changed the format in this issue, increased the size to 8 pages, expanded coverage to include the Queen's Maids, and set up a mailer to reduces our postage.  Next issue will include a feature article about the Troubadours.

We also have our first four advertisers. Thanks to them, we significantly reduced our production costs for the year.

We held our first social on Saturday, September 28th. About 60 people attended, including several of our friends from the Two-Seven Alumni Corps. If you didn't come, you missed a great time.  We have already started plans for next year in September. Be there or be square!

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of framed Certificates of Appreciation to Fr. Pennisi, Mary and Owen Devlin, Dotty and Mike McKinnon Sr., Kay and Bill Croke, Barbara Cuneo O'Connell, Paul Cascio, Paul Donato, Julio Miglierini, and George Jannette in recognition of their years of dedicated service to Fr. Carr and the youth of the Holy Trinity CYO.

[Thanks]
to Bobbie and Frank McKinnon for their extraordinary efforts in running our first social, particularly the beautiful display honoring Fr. Carr. The facility was spacious, we all had plenty to eat, and the disk jockey was a riot.

They also corrected over 100 names, addresses and phone numbers. Thanks to them we now have valid information for over 150 alumni and we sent the first newsletter to 20 new people.

[Notice]
Our next Alumni Association meeting is Thursday, January 9, 1997 at 7:00 p.m. at the Fogg-Roberts American Legion Post in Hyde Park (Located on Harvard St. - off Cleary Square).  The main item of business will be the election of officers for the year. Nomination papers will be mailed in November and reminders will be mailed about a week in advance. Please be there!

To advertise in our newsletter, please send us a business card. Rates are $25 per issue or $80 for four issues.

Space permitting, we will publish all the correspondence we receive. If you send photographs, we will keep them only long enough to scan them into the computer. Please address all correspondence to Cadet's Corner Newsletter at the return address on the back page.
